Notable Neighbors with Will Smith and Julia Roberts

DECEMBER 16, 2010

New Yorkers are totally not celebrity-obsessed. Yet our famous neighbors validate our choice to live in this crazy town: People who could live anywhere they wanted choose to live here, too.

Will Smith bonds with Noho; Julia Roberts collects another co-op; New York real estate goes reality TV

In case you hadn’t heard: Julia Roberts recently added more square footage to her Manhattan footprint. The Eat, Pray, Love star recently handed over $3.895 million for a penthouse co-op at 45 West 10th Street in Greenwich Village, not far from her current Gramercy apartment. Roberts owns several additional Manhattan properties as well as homes in California and Taos, NM. (Zillow blog)

Will Smith will be renting a 7,326 square foot, 5BR apartment on the 4th floor at 25 Bond Street while filming Men in Black III . The spacious Noho megabox should be enough to give Smith, wife Jada Pinkett Smith plus children and staff plenty of independence. (Curbed NY)

Executive suites: J. Crew CEO Mickey Drexler just became the owner of the country’s oldest working cattle farm—Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk, L.I.—for $11.7 million. (Dan’s Hamptons) Tiffany CEO Michael Kowalski and his wife Barbara just bought a $2.4 million two-bedroom condo on the 27th floor of the 1 River Terrace development in Battery Park City. When star brokers become reality stars: The New York City edition of the Bravo TV real estate reality show, Million Dollar Listing, is currently being filmed. The show will feature some of the city’s more flamboyant superbrokers. (Curbed NY)
