Love begins in the lobby
Increasing competition is leading developers to spend more on first impressions. A new area of focus is the lobby, where designer details and more square feet are being added to formerly ho-hum entryways. NYC apartment buildings like the Isis condominium at 303 East 77th Street–where design firm BNO Design recently added custom furniture, mirrors and other details to the existing lobby–are getting the nice-to-meet-you treatment (TheRealDeal).

New NYU institute a good deal for DoBro
NYU has announced an agreement with the city to create a Center for Urban Science and Progress at 370 Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn. The new center–near residential condominium towers like Oro at 306 Gold Street that have already brought a wave of new residents in recent years–will be yet another economic and community boost for the neighborhood as graduate students, grads and faculty look for homes nearby (via CurbedNY).
