Sandwich Popups at the Ace and the Whitney

MARCH 26, 2010

A new sandwich shop fills in at the Whitney and the Ace Hotel hosts No. 7 Sub.

Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group (the fine dining minds behind Tabla, Gramercy Tavern and a host of others) and the Whitney Museum are pleased to introduce Sandwiched, a pop-up cafe at the museum that offers sandwich and pastry creations from the group’s celebrated chefs. Visitors can enjoy getting Sandwiched from 11am to 5pm Wednesday through Sunday while renovations are in progress on the main dining room in the museum’s lower level until fall of 2010.

Sandwiched into the new Ace Hotel is No. 7 Sub, a Manhattan outpost of the Fort Greene favorite No. 7 Restaurant. As if the Ace didn’t have enough going on under its busy midtown roof, the tiny shop, with an entrance on Broadway, recently opened its doors to offer classic and not-so-classic hoagies and other sandwich treats–like crispy fried tofu and hot-and-sour egg salad–courtesy of chef Tyler Kord. House-made cookies, sodas, delivery and catering are on the menu as well.
