Understatements: Two New Sources for Lingerie Lovers

DECEMBER 4, 2009

If pretty underthings are your weakness, prepare to pounce on a new line from a design maverick and a pristine vintage collection.

“Queen of knits” Sonia Rykiel has been known for decades for couture-quality playfulness and color, and for her line’s 40th birthday she’s offering a small sampling at H & M prices: The hip chain will introduce a collection of lingerie designed exclusively for the store. The goodies arrive on December 5th, and the queue will be forming any minute. A second collaboration with H&M—iconic knitwear for women and girls—is on the way in February of 2010.

Helena Stuart’s Only Hearts Nolita Boutique is only a few months old, but the downtown satellite of the longtime Upper West Side favorite for racy lingerie and sexy daywear has found a unique niche. The Mott Street store recently launched a pop-up shop-within-a-shop called OH:POP, featuring dead-stock (never worn or sold) vintage, limited edition ’70s and ’80s knickers and such through January 1, 2010. Racked has more info on what to expect from the retro collection.
