Indulge your love of art—and parties—this weekend, with artwork you can take home with you—and some you might find on it.

Smack Mellon Kentucky Derby Party and Art Auction Benefit
Expect Mint Juleps, southern cooking, live music, and the Kentucky Derby race on larger-than-life TV screens. The art auction will include a drawing/raffle for the majority of donated artwork from over one hundred artists and a silent auction of a few selected pieces. Derby angle: The artwork you win will be determined by a random drawing. Increase your odds of getting the artwork you want by betting on the winning horse. $250 ticket admits two. The event will benefit the non-profit gallery’s mission to “nurture and support emerging, under-recognized mid-career and women artists.”

PopRally Presents…Graffiti Research Lab
Join PopRally for a screening of Graffiti Research Lab: The Complete First Season. The film premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and follows the adventures GRL founders James Powderly and Evan Roth, who quit their day jobs to develop high-tech tools for the art underground. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and surprise guests. Stay for the party afterwards, and a final chance to see MoMA’s Design and the Elastic Mind exhibition, which includes the work of the GRL. PopRally is a program of events at The Museum of Modern Art and P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center.
