Make the most of midsummer nights that light up the sky on the Fourth of July.

Midsummer Night Swing
One of the city’s favorite open-air dance parties swings into gear starting June 29 (through July 17) at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch park. Dance lessons are available pre-show so you can swing with confidence.
June 29 - July 17, 7:30 - 10 p.m. (Group dance lesson 6:30 - 7:15 p.m.)

Twin Spirits
To honor Robert Schumann’s 200th birthday, Sting and Trudie Styler read letters that speak of the deep and ultimately tragic love between Schumann and his pianist wife, Clara Wieck, with accompaniment from a six-member ensemble of classical musicians.

Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks
This year’s famous fireworks will soar from six barges in the Hudson River with a theme of American Harmony, promising musical accompaniment by the New York Pops, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and more. The armchair version can be seen live on NBC starting at 9 p.m. Alternatives: Borrow a rooftop at the Hudson Terrace or bring the crew on an old-time schooner cruise. Fireworks begin at approximately 9:20 p.m.
