An affordable senior housing development that broke ground in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx in December 2014 is nearing the finish line. The development has been dubbed Arts Bridge and these photos from November show the building’s interesting design, which was crafted by SLCE Architects.

The development is from Highbridge Community Development Corporation, a nonprofit developer and manager of low and moderate income housing which has created more than 2,100 affordable units in the Bronx over the past 10 years, according to the website ArtsBridgeSenior.com.

Permits for the building, located at 1450 Plimpton Avenue and West 172nd Street, indicate the structure rises 76 feet high and has seven floors. Inside are 62 residential units spread throughout 47,000 square feet of space on floors 3 through 7, and the property also houses a 12,683-square-foot community facility that occupies the lower three floors.
The Arts Bridge organization’s website shows resident amenities include state-of-the-art security, a live-in superintendent, a part-time porter and a 24-hour safety officer. Residents also have access to information and services for transportation and health care. Permits show the building’s 7th floor will be home to a community room, library, and computer facilities.
