A rendering for a stalled residential project over in Bushwick has been revealed via Infocus Architecture. Permits were originally filed back in 2014 and called for a vertical and horizontal enlargement of a 2-story structure at 1178-1180 Gates Avenue, between Bushwick and Evergreen Avenues. When complete, the building will rise just 4 stories tall and host 8 units spread across 8,660 square feet. And since the apartments will average 1,082 square feet each, it's likely they will be condos. A Google street view image from October 2016 shows construction finally started on the site.
The owner is listed as Daniel Melamed, the same landlord found guilty this past June of illegally evicting rent-stabilized tenants (TRD) of 1578 Union Street. No word on whether or not he will actually face jail time but the misdemeanor charge does carry a sentence of up to one year of imprisonment.
