While it is still very early in 2024, experts are abuzz with predictions about what lies ahead for the market and which buildings will prove most popular. If the first week of January 2024 is anything to go on, Mandarin Oriental Residences Fifth Avenue and Central Park Tower are favorites among luxury buyers, having accounted for four of the top five sales.
The three-bedroom, two and a half-bath Penthouse C at Mandarin Oriental Residences Fifth Avenue led the charge with a closing price of $19,965,000, or just shy of the $21 million ask when it entered contract in September 2023. It was closely trailed by Penthouse A, which sold for an even $15,000,000 in the fourth-highest sale of the week.
An offering plan indicates that both penthouses have private terraces. They also both come fully furnished and equipped with everything from Georg Jensen silverware in the kitchen to Frette linens in the bedrooms to Dyson hair dryers and Mandarin Oriental-branded toothbrushes in the baths.
