See New Photos of LIC's Hayden as Grand Opening Approaches; Mid-February Occupancy Expected

As a Rockrose rental development in Long Island City readies for leasing, new photos of the 50-story high rise show its profound presence in the neighborhood.

Hayden (43-25 Hunter Street) is next to Rafferty Triangle and shares the intersection with the 50-story Citigroup building at One Court Square (built in 1989) and the 15-story 2 Court Square (built in 2006). A 2001 rezoning meant to transform parts of the neighborhood to a mixed-use community has done just that. Several residential high-rises have opened over the past few years or are under construction. Hayden is only one of the latest.

Hayden's teaser site has launched for no-fee studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and the site also shows off a new pair of amenity renderings. There are 30,000 square feet of amenities in total, and the new images show its solarium and roof deck with a great lawn. Anticipated occupancy is set for mid-February.

The project, designed by SLCE, was first announced in 2013 following the opening of another Rockrose rental high rise, Linc LIC. At that time, Hayden was to hold the title of tallest residential building in Queens, but the reign was short-lived. Though it will be one of the city's largest residential buildings with nearly 1,000 apartments, neighboring high rises have surpassed its height, or will soon. The 57-story Tower 28 will begin leasing in March and is currently the tallest in the borough, there is a 54-story rental in the works called Eagle Electric Factory, but the tallest (at least for now) is the 66-story condominium Court Square City View Tower which will open in 2018. There are other new residential buildings that, though not as tall, have contributed to the amiable, mixed-use flavor of the neighborhood. 1QPS Tower has 44 floors and just launched leasing, there is the forthcoming 27-story Watermark Court Square, and also the 27-story Harrison condominiums which launched sales in September.
"When this very handsome project was first announced in 2013, it was planned as the tallest building in Queens"
