Straight out of the Flintstones, Williamsburg's Element88 Takes Shape

East Williamsburg’s most audacious residential development has erupted out of the ground. Named Element88, the concrete structure is beginning to rise at 88 Withers Street at the southwest corner of Leonard Street. Ultimately, the building will stand a modest 9 stories tall, but its monumental design, visible to all motorists on the BQE, has the makings of becoming a true showstopper.

The 33-unit condo is being developed by the increasingly fruitful firms of Rybak Development and BK Developers. The Brooklyn-based team commissioned their go-to architects Zproekt, who were behind the developers’ The Vue, The Wave and The Ocean. For Element88, they drew up an out-of-the-box, purposely crude design that could have been the foremost icon of the Neolithic Era, right along with Stonehenge. Its cantilevering floors and erratically angling faces would be chicest residence in Downtown Bedrock from the Flintstones.

The team says they wanted to harness the neighborhood’s creative and eclectic residents – what’s left of it at least. There will be one- to three-bedroom apartments with 12-foot ceilings, open layouts, herringbone floors and designer fixtures. A unique bonus to buyers will be a set of workspaces in the cellar that can be used as home offices, workshops, wine cellars or art studios.

Amenities include a 22-foot-high designer lobby, a virtual doorman, a 6,000-square-foot park and a fitness center. Corcoran Group is handling sales and marketing which will officially kick-off in early 2018. Check out the new seizure-inducing video.
