Finding a New York City apartment for rent can be a challenging endeavor, and the hardest work of packing and moving begins after the lease is signed. This is why some renters, particularly those new to the city or seeking a short-term lease, might be a good fit for fully furnished apartments. Some include the barest bones (think bed, sofa, chairs, and dining table), while others go all out with linens, cookware, kitchen utensils, and art in addition to basic furnishings. In either case, renters should take the time to detail everything that is supposed to be included in their furnished apartment and make sure it is, in fact, there. They may also be asked to pay a higher security deposit against damages to the furnishings as well as to the apartment itself.

From May 3-9, 2023, a total of 160 rental listings throughout New York City experienced price reductions, a number of which come furnished.
