Condo sales in lower Manhattan neighborhoods between the Financial District and Midtown have been red hot during the pandemic
The fourth quarter of 2021 was significant for several reasons: International borders reopened during that time, New York presented encouraging coronavirus vaccine rates and case numbers, and the Manhattan real estate market showed a strong performance compared to a year earlier, putting rest to fears that the end of New York was nigh.
As CityRealty data shows, the number of Manhattan condo sales jumped 146 percent year-over-year, with the borough’s average condo price and average condo price per square foot ticking up as well. Downtown neighborhoods comprised the majority of the top performers, though rarefied sections of the Upper East Side and Upper West Side also presented strong numbers.
