In a summer when lifeguard shortages have disrupted operations at the city's public pools and beaches, perhaps it is not surprising that the top contract was for a home with a private pool: #S16A at 565 Broome Soho, an early and striking entrant entrant in Hudson Square's transformation, with an asking price of $14,950,000. The duplex unit has three bedrooms, three and a half baths, 3,397 interior square feet, and a 2,200-square-foot private terrace with a private pool and outdoor shower.
The top uptown contract and second-highest overall took place at 47 East 91st Street, where #6 entered contract with a $11,500,000 asking price. The 4,007-square-foot full-floor home features direct elevator access, five bedrooms, five and a half baths, and four exposures.

Of the 168 contracts of the past week, only three were for townhouses. The top townhouse contract was for 241 East 52nd Street, a Turtle Bay townhouse once owned by Grammy Award-winning singer/producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, who lived there from 1998 to 2004 and had a recording studio in his home during that time. However, since he sold the house, the recording studio was turned into a wine cellar. The house is about to change hands again, having entered contract with a $5,395,000 ask.
