After years of relatively mild winters, the first two months of 2026 came as a shock to New Yorkers between a prolonged cold spell lasting from late January well into February and the first blizzard in a decade. However, between high-tech sports simulators, hammams, and IMAX screening rooms, several New York City condos offer plenty of recreation options without leaving the building. The amenity race has extended to the youngest residents, with developers signing acclaimed designers and illustrators to create large, elaborate children's playrooms.
The playrooms naturally appeal to children, but show grown-up apartment buyers that these buildings are good places to raise their families. These spaces are situated near adult-oriented spaces like lounges or gyms, making it easy for parents to peek in while enjoying their own leisure. The playrooms offer space to form friendships in the building and hold small playdates without getting underfoot in a small apartment. They also make great venues for birthday parties, though reservations are likely required for large groups. Below, we look at the most appealing children's playrooms in new development condos.
