Chrissy Teigen and John Legend and thier home at Brewster Carriage House in Nolita Chrissy Teigen and John Legend and thier home at Brewster Carriage House in Nolita
One of the beauties of New York City real estate is the diversity of styles and layouts out there, especially at the higher end. The city's great legacy of building and design supported by continuous waves of newcomers from the world over have bestowed our superb craftsmanship, a mélange of styles, and interesting adaptive-reuses utilizing the bones of our industrial heritage. One such example is Brewster Carriage House, a landmarked building that went up as a manufacturing structure for a carriage company in 1856. When it was converted to an intimate luxury condominium, the conversion included the restoration of the handsome cornice on the red brick facade along with other historic details.

The building in the Special Little Italy District earned the endorsements of Community Board 2 and EGOT John Legend alike, the latter of whom told The Wall Street Journal, “We love all the brick and metal. It fits our aesthetic perfectly.” He is referring to himself and his wife, model/food entrepreneur Chrissy Teigen - the couple first lived in a one-bedroom in the building, and later upgraded to a $9.02 million penthouse with soaring ceilings, oversized windows, exposed brick, exposed beams, and columns. These original details make a wonderful backdrop to such modern amenities as a state-of-the-art kitchen, a Great Room with gas fireplace and integrated sound system, two luxurious primary suites, and a 3,000-square-foot private roof terrace with its own irrigation system and grill.

The power couple bought a second penthouse in the building for $7.7 million in 2020 with the intention of combining them into one massive apartment, but those plans ultimately fell through. The pair of penthouses is now on the market for $18 million, and among the most beautiful new listings to come on the market over the past week.
