The best new bargains in New York from $495K

If cynics are to be believed, the only way anyone can afford to buy in New York is to get an apartment the size of a shoe box in a questionable neighborhood. Median prices like $1.875 million for condos and $899K for co-ops (per CityRealty listings) make it easy to see how some would get that idea, but that doesn't make it accurate.
