The Downtown Club at 20 West Street The Downtown Club at 20 West Street
Located at 20 West Street and originally built as an art-deco style clubhouse in 1930, the NYC landmarked Downtown Athletic Club was designed by the architectural firm of Starrett & van Vleck, the architects behind many iconic New York City department stores such as Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue. In 2005, the building was transformed into a 283-unit luxury residential tower known as The Downtown Club. Now, in its most recent incarnation, the “new” 20 West Street condominiums is offering 18 fully-renovated apartments ranging from studio to two-bedroom homes. The units can be delivered with either a sleek white modern or grey, industrial finish.
Evan Shaffer, the Douglas Elliman listing broker for the 18 renovated units, says, “We are marketing and selling these 18 newly designed apartments in 20 West, which is why we’re calling them the ‘new’ 20 West. This is a renewed perspective of the building based on updates and increased efficiencies we’re bringing to the building.”
