When a four-alarm fire ravaged 509 and 511 Amsterdam Avenue, adjacent Upper West Side buildings that housed Jacob’s Pickles and E’s Bar on the ground floor, neighbors lamented the loss of a popular restaurant and hangout. However, what many didn’t realize was that the apartments above suffered significant damage. E’s Bar reopened in the spring, and Jacob’s Pickles followed suit in fall, but the apartments required quite a bit more work. More than two years after the fire, owner Shore Assets is now leasing the 19 units following an extensive restoration.
The transformed apartments’ combination of prewar charm and modern convenience comes through in features like exposed brick accent walls, recessed LED lighting with dimmers, ductless air conditioning and heat, and wide plank white oak hardwood floors. Open kitchens are outfitted with quartz counters, in-sink garbage disposals, and stainless steel Bosch appliances. Bedrooms have custom California closets, and porcelain tiled baths have Hansgrohe and Duravit fixtures. All apartments are now entered via keyless entry, and a virtual doorman system is in place.
Apartments start at $3,092/month for one-bedrooms and $3,415/month for two-bedrooms. Both prices are net effective, indicating a rent concession and putting them below the Broadway Corridor median of $3,650/month for one-bedrooms and $4,550/month for two-bedrooms. See more listings here.
