Plenty of room to prepare a Blue Apron meal in here! (20 East End Avenue, #12B - Douglas Elliman) Plenty of room to prepare a Blue Apron meal in here! (20 East End Avenue, #12B - Douglas Elliman)
Between lingering Labor Day laziness, the stresses of back-to-school, and the forthcoming Jewish holidays, there were a number of reasons why it was somewhat quieter earlier this month where recorded sales were concerned in Manhattan. But they got closer to normal as September 2023 winds down, with a number of business executives buying and selling real estate during this time.

Matthew Salzberg — Bought for $10,900,000

20-East-End-Avenue-01 20 East End Avenue, #12B (Douglas Elliman)
Corner living room with fireplace
Kitchen with center island and dining area
Primary bedroom with separate sitting area/dressing room
In June 2023, meal kit delivery trailblazer Blue Apron sold the assets and business related to its operational infrastructure to FreshRealm in a deal that eliminated its debt and allows it to concentrate on building its brand and expanding its product offerings. Amidst all this, founder Matthew Salzberg found time to purchase and close on a luxurious East End Avenue condo with his wife, director/producer Lily Hayes Kaufman. Appropriately enough, a large eat-in kitchen is at the heart of the home.

From the Listing:
Residence 12B is a palatial five bedroom, five and a half bath home at 20 East End Avenue, a luxury condominium designed by the world-renowned architect Robert A.M. Stern. 12B benefits from features unique in the building with its soaring 13-foot ceilings, six Juliet balconies, and four exposures found throughout its 4,900 square feet.

Enter through either the formal front door landing or private direct elevator access leading to the home’s gallery which includes a powder room and generous entry closet. The light-filled corner great room with double exposure to the south and east is highlighted through the oversized picture-perfect window and five floor-to-ceiling Juliet balconies that overlook the East River. The great room boasts a decorative marble fireplace and an integrated wine fridge and bar.

The home’s comfortable elegance continues to the gracious eat-in kitchen and oversized den. The kitchen’s classic aesthetic is blended seamlessly with a Gaggenau appliance package, vented stainless steel hood, and custom millwork with Calacatta Monarch countertops. Within the kitchen are a pair of extra-large pantries and a den. Along the gallery are two secondary bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, one of which currently serves as the library.
