The triplex penthouse at 419 Broome Street has sold for $35.14 million. The apartment was originally listed for $65 million in 2018, but nevertheless sets a new record for SoHo propoer. A deal at 565 Broome SoHo which is technically in Hudson Square closed for $36,533,612 in August 2019. Nvertheless, the eight-figure deal is one of the largest deals to close since the pandemic and signifies confidence Manhattan's high-end luxury market..
According to The Wall Street Journal, sellers David Matlin (co-founder of MatlinPatterson Global Advisers) and Lisa Matlin bought the penthouse for $17.8 million in 2011, around the time the historic cast iron building was converted to condos, and had an extensive renovation done.

Information on the buyer is not available, but the penthouse is in a neighborhood known for its celebrity residents. The sale beats out the record previously held by Jon Bon Jovi, whose penthouse at 158 Mercer Street sold for $34 million in 2015. Moreover, Academy Award-winning actor Heath Ledger was among the building’s past residents.
