Another day in New York City, another tower tops out. This one, however, deserves the hype. The Related Companies and Oxford Properties’
new building 530 West 30th Street has topped off on its 33 floors, and is now constructing the enclosure around its rooftop mechanical bulkhead. Situated just across the street from Related’s newly-minted office tower at 10 Hudson Yards, the tower began its rise last year and reached its twenty-fifth floor last month. The building is set to host 179 rental apartments across 33 floors.
Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects, 530 West 30th boasts beautiful rows of operable, green-hued windows across a marble-like facade. The building shares its through-block lot with 529 West 29th Street, Related’s entirely affordable 126-unit residential building that opened in 2014. An added perk of the building is that it fronts the High Line on two sides, solidifying its truly desirable location.
According to filings with the Department of Buildings, the tower’s amenities will include a basketball court, a swimming pool, a lounge, locker rooms, bicycle parking, private storage, and a bowling alley. A rooftop terrace will top off both the building, but more amenity announcements promise to come. Completion for the residential tower has been slated for 2017.
