This five-story mixed-use apartment building at 82 Ainslie Street is just the latest rental to pop up in a string of new developments coming to East Williamsburg. The future structure will stand among neighbors like 65 Ainslie Street and the proposed 50-unit rental building at 66 Ainslie Street. However, instead of demolishing the existing two-story warehouse, developer Juda Klein of Parkview Management will be carrying out a vertical expansion. The 23,213 square-foot space will be composed of commercial space on the first floor and 11,395 square feet of residential space, allowing each of the 16 apartments to average about 712 square feet. NYC-based Syndicate Architecture will be handling the design.

While there are many industrial, or industrial-inspired, developments in the area, the rendering for 82 Ainslie shows a design that seems to limit this influence, and it takes more of a residential-design approach. The building features a Y-Shaped setback that allows for the 20-foot-high roof of the first floor commercial space to serve as a terrace that boasts 1,104 square feet. Other building amenities include shared balconies, cellar storage, a laundry room, a bike room and another rooftop terrace, providing future residents an additional 445 square feet of outdoor space. There will be four apartments each on floors two through five.
82 Ainslie Street is situated next to the Brooklyn Queens Expressway and right by Williamsburg's development-friendly Metropolitan Avenue. The rental building will be very close to the neighborhood's bistros and bars as well as the subway's L and G train line.
