The 'AKA' extended-stay living brand has opened another stunning development at an incomparable downtown Manhattan location in the Financial District. Located at 84 William Street at the corner of Maiden Lane, AKA Wall Street offers weekly and monthly stays for 132 spacious suites that come with a sumptuous package of amenities.
The ornate neoclassical building was designed by Howells & Stokes in 1907 for the Royal Insurance Company and was acquired in 2013 by a joint venture comprised of Korman Communities, Shorewood Real Estate Group, and the Prodigy Network. Asfour Guzy Architects, who also designed AKA Beverley Hills, worked in conjunction with Avinash K. Malhotra on the $40 million conversion and renovation of the building, whose scope also included a two-floor addition atop the 17-story building. The building is distinguished by a stepped entrance at its rounded corner, beneath a meticulously renovated clock on the fourth floor flanked by two large stone lions. The stone rusticated base was also accurately restored.
The neoclassical building was recently converted to short-term rentals; a full renovation included a two-story addition.
AKA Wall Street is located at the corner of William Street & Maiden Lane.
