Essex Crossing's luxury rental The Rollins, opened last year to residents and later gained a Target and the largest Trader Joe's on the eastern seaboard. Next in store for the 15-story structure is a 10,600-square foot mural to be painted on the building's lower floors by celebrated artistic duo ASVP. According to the developers, a joint venture between L+M Development Partners, BFC Partners, Taconic Investment Partners, the Prusik Group and the Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group, the mural was selected from more than 85 responses to a DSA-run request for proposals process that drew submissions from around the world.

Located at at 145 Clinton Street on the Lower East Side, the 211-unit building currently has studio apartments priced from $3,253/month, one-bedrooms from $4,216/month, and two-beds from $5,792. The building is also offering two months free on a 14-month lease on select apartments.

Douglas Elliman Development Marketing is handling leasing. The Rollins is named after legendary jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins, who lived in the location during the 1950s where the building stands today. Rollins often spent his days practicing on the nearby Williamsburg Bridge. “It was a very fond place for me,” he told The New York Times in December. “It really has a place in my heart.” The building is the site of the largest Trader Joe's on the eastern seaboard and also has a Target.

A residents’ lounge has a fireplace, wet bar, billiards table, shuffleboard, media room, and private dining room. The location is near exciting projects including the forthcoming Market Line, an expansive bazaar-like marketplace set to become one of the largest in the world.
Ultimately, Essex Crossing will include 1,079 apartments and condominiums including 55 luxury condos at 242 Broome Street, and additional rental residences at The Essex which launched leasing late last year.
