While some Jersey City buildings go for height in a vain attempt to compete with the Manhattan skyline (ahem, Ellipse), others seek to make a statement with an eye-catching facade. The Lively, an 18-story rental that had just launched leasing, has chosen the latter: A design by Fogarty Finger is simple but striking with a grid above the base and large vertical windows, some of which are framed in gold. In an interview earlier this year, co-founding principal Chris Fogarty cited barcodes as an inspiration, saying, “In addition to their artistic quality, they also have a digital, mathematical quality to them.”

The living rooms and bedrooms have different-sized windows, but all of them fill the apartments with incredible natural light. Interior features also include wide plank wood-style flooring, custom lighting, Honeywell smart thermostats, vented in-unit washer/dryers, and baths with textured tiles. Kitchens are outfitted with Caesarstone countertops and backsplash and full-size stainless steel appliances.

Residential amenities are on the top floor to make the most of sweeping river and Manhattan skyline views. These include a dog run, lounge with Kegerator, library, fitness center with Espresso bikes and interactive Mirrors, billiards room, children’s playroom, co-working space that flows into demonstration kitchen, and outdoor pool with fireplace, grilling area, and lounge areas. The building also offers concierge service, package lockers, a pet washing station, and bike room with repair station and bikes for resident use.
The Lively is located in Jersey City’s Powerhouse Arts District, where new restaurants and shops are springing up on surrounding blocks. It is conveniently situated between the Grove Street PATH station and the Exchange Place ferry stop for a multitude of commuting options.
Current availabilities range from $2,600/month for a studio to $8,150/month for a high-floor three-bedroom. One month's free rent is being offered on 11 through 18-month leases.
