The Ice Cream Factory stands at 347 Berry Street, an address that already has our mouths watering. The name, however, is not a description of the property's present vocation, but rather a tribute to its tasty past. Formerly an ice cream factory, the Williamsburg building now stands as the product of a residential conversion by developers Pilot Real Estate Group and Horrigan Development. The team tapped Standard Architects to design the 6-story, 23-unit building, which hosts studio, one- and two-bedroom lofts. The developers commissioned local artist Katie Merz to design fun “glyphs” for the building’s façade. Her artwork also weaves its way through the building’s lobby and elevator landings.

The building also stands reminiscent of Brooklyn’s industrial past, with its concrete treatments, exposed cast-in-place super structure, and high-strength fiber reinforced precast panels. Inside, loft-style units maintain this vibe, with epoxy coated concrete, oversized floor-to-ceiling windows, durable 5-inch bamboo floors, and ceilings that rise up to 11 feet. Kitchens have Calcutta gold marble countertops, and Blomberg and Summit appliances. Bathrooms feature warm beige tiles, deep soaker tubs, and custom rain showerheads. Units also come equipped with washer/dryers.
