2 Cooper Square is a 15 story NoHo rental completed in 2010, with 133 apartments designed by GKV Associates and developed by Atlantic Development Group. Its brown brick masonry façade, rounded corners, and setback upper floors give the building a more restrained profile than several of the glass and metal structures around Cooper Square.
The building rises from a five story base beside the Samuel Tredwell Skidmore House, an 1845 Greek Revival city landmark on East 4th Street. The development of the tower was closely tied to plans for the adjoining house, whose condition and proposed restoration were the subject of a lengthy Landmarks Preservation Commission review.
Many apartments pair open kitchens with in-unit laundry, while orientations include east, south, west, and northwest exposures; a number of west facing homes have open city views. The building has a rooftop pool and terrace, fitness center, club lounge with a fireplace, 15 person screening room, meeting and business facilities, bicycle storage, resident storage, and private outdoor lounge space. A 24 hour attended lobby, concierge staff, and live-in superintendent support the residential services.
2 Cooper Square is at Bowery and East 4th Street, south of Cooper Union's academic building designed by Morphosis. Astor Place station, served by the 6 train, is several blocks north, and the building sits where NoHo, the East Village, and the Bowery meet.
