Notable NYC Neighbors

DECEMBER 6, 2012

Even celebrities don’t always get what they want when it comes to NYC real estate (but that doesn’t stop them from trying).

Arianna Huffington is in search of a downtown NYC home and recently viewed Harrison Ford’s $16 million, 5,664 square-foot apartment at City Prairie at 206 West 17th Street. The Washington, D.C. media queen had also expressed interest in another unit–a five-bedroom apartment with a chef’s kitchen and butler’s pantry on the market for $10 million–in the same 1800s warehouse-turned-condo (NYPost).

Retired Yankees catcher Jorge Posada finally sold his Upper East Side apartment at 300 East 77th Street. The 11th-floor spread sold for $9.5 million, down from the $11 million at which the four-bedroom, 5,600 square-foot-Seville condo hit the market last year (CurbedNY)

TV tool-wrangler Bob Vila has purchased a three-bedroom co-op at 115 East 67th Street for $2.46 million. The prewar apartment features a wood-burning fireplace, a formal dining room and private elevator access. Vila sold his condo at 15 Madison Square North for $5 million last year (NYO).

Real estate scion Billy Macklowe and his wife, Julie, are no longer buying a $27.5 million apartment at 950 Fifth Avenue. The big-ticket four-bedroom duplex with park views, oversized windows, a hand-crafted wrought-iron banister and a formal dining room with travertine floors–just to start with–is back on the market (NYPost).
