SEPTEMBER 11, 2013

Anne Hathaway sells DUMBO home; John Madden leaves the Dakota; Alec Baldwin buys more of Devonshire House; Trump Tower trophy penthouse hits the market; Jon Bon Jovi’s rockstar pad gets the axe.

Anne Hathaway first rented, then–in January–purchased a three bedroom ninth floor unit in DUMBO’s Clock Tower condo building at 1 Main Street. Now the Academy Award-winning actress is hoping to sell the latter unit for $4.5 million. Hathaway and hubby Adam Shulman still reside in the aforementioned rental unit in the same building. The available three-bedroom apartment–which Hathaway purchased for $4.1 million–offers 2,592 square feet of living space with astounding Statue of Liberty, bridge, downtown Manhattan and Empire State Building views (NYPost).

Recently-married Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark just bought the penthouse at the Peregrine at 303 East 49th Street in Turtle Bay on the decidedly inner-borough island of Manhattan. Yormark’s triplex apartment in the modern “sliver” building has a bedroom level on its top and bottom floors with the kitchen/living and dining areas in the middle, plus two upper level balconies. The unit was most recently listed at just under $4 million; Yormark paid $3.45 million for the 2,900-square-foot condo (NYO).

Eagles bassist Timothy B. Schmit recently bought a two-bedroom Upper West Side condo in Lincoln Square at 150 Columbus Avenue. The 14th floor aerie in the 1995-built asymmetrical tower sold for $3.2 million, just above ask (NYO).

Former NFL coach John Madden‘s co-op at the Dakota at 1 West 72nd Street changed hands for $3.9 million (down from an initial ask of $4.9 million) during the dog days of August. The two-bedroom residence in the venerable Upper West Side building made famous by its roster of celebrity residents from John Lennon and Yoko Ono to Connie Chung and Leonard Bernstein has prewar details like original moldings, fireplaces and original shutters (NYO).

Alec Baldwin, who, with new (ish) wife Hilaria and even newer baby Carmen Gabriela, already owns several other units under its roof, recently purchased another unit in Greenwich Village at the Devonshire House at 28 East 10th Street. The Emmy-winning actor’s latest acquisition is a one-bedroom eighth-floor apartment in the prewar Emery Roth-designed converted condo building. Baldwin paid $2.25 million for the unit (The Real Deal).

Big Tickets

Jon Bon Jovi’s SoHo penthouse atop the New Museum Building at 158 Mercer Street, ambitiously listed at $42 million after the hair band frontman had extensive renovations done, recently got price-chopped to a still rockin’ $39.9 mil. The five-bedroom duplex has three landscaped terraces, arched windows, 11-foot ceilings and a screening room (CurbedNY).

Penthouse 31/32, the trophy duplex perched atop the Trump Park Avenue condo conversion at 502 Park Avenue, is on the market for a head-turning $45 million. The vast 6,278-square-foot home, which was on and off the market in the late 2000s–features an opulent interior with a double staircase unfolding below an enormous crystal chandelier, two large terraces, vaulted ceilings, panoramic 3-exposure views and herringbone floors among the many more details befitting the Trump brand (CurbedNY).
