408 Greenwich Street is a nine story Post Modern condominium in TriBeCa, completed in 2007 and designed by architect Morris Adjmi. Its façade uses broad arched windows, rounded terracotta corner columns, and a broad cornice to reinterpret the proportions of the surrounding warehouse district. The Landmarks Commission called it “a terrific modern application to the scale and character of the neighborhood.”
The boutique building has four residential units above commercial space, with apartments organized as expansive lofts rather than conventional stacked layouts. Full floor corner residences are a recurring type, and the apartments have 11 foot ceilings, generous entertaining areas, open kitchens, and large arched windows with eastern, southern, or southeastern exposures. Several layouts include four bedrooms plus a study or media room, while others use flexible open space to create different bedroom configurations.
Apartment interiors range from original loft compositions to extensive architect designed renovations. Recurring features include high end kitchens with integrated appliances and wine storage, hardwood floors, custom lighting, built in sound or security systems, and separate laundry rooms; the building's Tier 1 amenities also include in unit washer and dryers and resident storage. A private keyed entry sequence, oversized windows, and full floor layouts are among the more consistent architectural characteristics of the residences.
Building amenities include a virtual doorman, resident storage, and a pet policy permitting cats and dogs. The address is in TriBeCa's Northern Historic District, moments from Hudson River Park and Pier 25, with restaurants and shops along West Broadway, SoHo, and the West Village close by. 408 Greenwich also drew public attention during a noise dispute involving resident Tracy Anderson and workout sessions in the building.
