One East End Avenue, erected in 1929, is a distinguished 14-story prewar cooperative designed by architects Pleasants Pennington and Albert W. Lewis. The building, which contains 33 units, stands on a unique trapezoidal plot along the East River and FDR Drive, on what was formerly Marie Curie Avenue. The structure represents a notable example of late 1920s residential architecture on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
The building's distinctive design features soft orange brick and limestone façades, with four projecting bay windows facing the East River. Its unusual footprint measures just 29 feet wide at its southern end, where it resembles a ship's prow, expanding to 51 feet at its northern end. The original floor plans typically divided each level into three units, with a duplex in the central section flanked by simplexes.
A particularly noteworthy feature of the building is its historical yacht landing, accessed by an elegant set of marble stairs. The building houses several remarkable residences, including a penthouse triplex that has served as the home of Ireland's Ambassador to the United Nations since 1957. The apartments feature generous room proportions, many with fireplaces, and several units offer wraparound terraces.
Situated just blocks from Carl Schurz Park and Gracie Mansion, the building benefits from its riverside location with commanding East River views and additional vistas to the south and west due to surrounding low-rise buildings. The full-service cooperative maintains a doorman staff and resident manager, while its location provides convenient access to several of the city's premier private schools.

For some co-ops, instead of price per square foot, we use an estimate of the number of rooms for each sold apartment to chart price changes over time. This is because many co-op listings do not include square footage information, and this makes it challenging to calculate accurate square-foot averages.
By displaying the price per estimated room count, we are able to provide a more reliable and consistent metric for comparing sales in the building. While we hope that this gives you a clearer sense of price trends in the building, all data should be independently verified. All data provided are only estimates and should not be used to make any purchase or sale decision.
