About Sutton House, 415 East 52nd Street
This large, white-brick apartment building, which is known as Sutton House, has a very impressive landscaped entrance down a few steps from the sidewalk into a very large lobby.
Built in 1959, the building has a 19-story tower flanked by two 12-story wings, one of which occupies the entire east blockfront on First Avenue and which also housed the famous Perigord Restaurant. The midtown views to the east are very impressive and the 52nd Street block is one of the most attractive in the city and ends in a dead-end at the entrance of the legendary River House.
The 289-unit building, which is between the Sutton Place and Beekman Place districts, was converted to a cooperative in 1981. It has a health club, a garage, a sundeck and storage rooms.
