Over the past few years, New York has seen dizzyingly high real estate sales and super-luxurious new construction take shape. Since then, interest and mortgage rates have crept back up and the markets have gotten increasingly tumultuous. Those factors would be intimidating enough to American buyers; moreover, Douglas Elliman Chairman Howard Lorber told Bloomberg that the strength of the dollar is preventing the influx of international buyers many predicted and hoped for once the borders reopened.
