A new East Village residential building originally intended to be a boutique condominium (called Village Capri) has debuted as a collection of eight luxury rental homes, called Nevelson House. Located at 222 East 7th Street on a tree-lined block between Avenue B and Avenue C,
Nevelson House rises six stories and has large, loft-inspired units inside. The new building is named after famed sculpture artist Louise Nevelson who once lived at the address, and as EV Grieve cheekily notes, "Workers first honored her memory by demolishing the previous four-floor building" at the site.
Layouts have between 675 to nearly 1,500 square feet of space with one or two bedrooms, and open floor plans allow residents to create creative and flexible spaces. Current listings show 1-bedrooms start at $4,295/month and 2-bedrooms at $7,850/month.

Interiors offer floor-to-ceiling windows, wide plank wood floors, high ceilings, and recessed lighting throughout. Luxurious details and finishes are noticeable, like the Carrara marble countertops and high-end stainless steel appliances. There are washers/dryers in each unit, along with other features like multi-zoned climate control, large closets with built-in shelving, and radiant heated floors. Pets are allowed in the building, and some units have private balconies.
