But a newly constructed building at 581 Ocean Parkway is breaking tradition, rising to eight floors with a modern, faux-industrial façade that contrasts with the traditionally-designed homes it's squeezed between.

Kensington is midway into the borough, between the Borough Park and Flatbush/Ditmas Park neighborhoods, and is easily accessible. The F train at Ditmas Ave is about two blocks away, and the B/Q trains are also within walking distance but a bit farther. Permits for the new structure were approved in 2015, and the applicant of record is listed as Charles Mallea of M Architecture.
