The 14-story prewar rental building at 360 West 34th Street, known today as Sloane Chelsea, was once the William Sloane House and provided 1,493 rooms for young men and the enlisted personnel of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

Built between 1929-1930 by Starrett & van Vleck, original amenities for residents included a barber, a physician and social rooms, according to the building's website. In 1995, the structure was completely restored and redesigned to offer 260 homes, which are now rentals managed by Kibel Companies, a real estate firm that owns another Midtown rental at 300 East 34th Street.

Sloane Chelsea offers studio to three-bedroom apartments, and also townhome residences. Select listings from Triumph Property advertise two months free on an 18-month lease; studios are available from $2,356/month, one-bedrooms from $2,840/month, and a townhome is listed for $4,618/month.

Homes have high ceilings and a modern interior design. Kitchens feature Caesarstone countertops, custom cabinetry with soft-close drawers, and stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher. The building is pet friendly and each unit is pre-wired for high-speed internet.

While a physician and barber are no longer offered, amenities for current residents include 24-hour concierge, a fitness center, and convenient laundry facilities on every floor.

The building's entrance is by the southeast intersection of 34th Street and Ninth Avenue near the exciting development happening at Hudson Yards. The world-famous High Line is a quick walk as is Penn Station, Herald Square and Times Square. Many transit options are in the immediate area including NYC subways, the Long Island Railroad, Amtrak, Citi Bike and more.
