The long-awaited West SoHo project from Related Rentals and the esteemed Robert A.M. Stern Architects at 261 Hudson Street launched leasing in April 2017 and was fully leased in only four months. However, a new move-in for the 12-story, LEED Gold-certified building was recently announced: Whitmans, an independently owned restaurant known for its specially crafted burgers and menu focused on fresh fare, will open its newest location at a 2,400-square-foot space in the building this fall, according to the New York Post. Interiors will evoke a mix of country home meets Manhattan nostalgia, and the award-winning "Juicy Lucy," along with other Whitmans specialties, will be just an elevator ride away for residents and a much-desired culinary addition to a neighborhood rapidly transforming from industrial to residential.
“We look forward to bringing our delicious, locally sourced fare into one of Manhattan’s hottest neighborhoods.” - Larry Kramer, co-owner, Whitmans
Official building amenities have been designed to deliver functional luxuries like the building's fitness center that features top-of-the-line equipment curated by Equinox, a bespoke library, and a residents' lounge that is both intimate and grand enough for small and large-scale entertaining. In addition is the standard full-service package including a 24-hour attended lobby and a decently-sized courtyard. The best perk is probably the private courtyard and rooftop terrace designed by HMWhite, and the wood-paneled, WiFi-friendly study, perfect for on-the-go business professionals.
In addition to a strikingly vintage industrial façade, the apartments were also designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, resulting in a living experience that blends seamlessly with the architectural surroundings of Hudson Square. Loft-like residences are outfitted with floor to ceiling windows and have oak flooring throughout. There are luxe finishes including grey-stained white oak cabinetry and stone countertops in the kitchens, and classic mosaic-tiled flooring and white marbling in the bathrooms.
Corner apartments (mostly 2-bedrooms) have southwest exposures, and nearly all units feature walk-in closets. Pass-through kitchens are complete with stainless steel Bosch integrated appliances, and all units come with a washer and dryer.
