StuyTown Relaunches Affordable Lottery with Lower Income Requirements and Rents from $1,462/month

Months after an initial middle-income lottery took place, Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village has relaunched its housing lottery with a significantly wider range of apartments prices and income eligibility brackets.

Households earning 80% of the area median income ($43,860-$130,240) have until October 11, 2018 to apply for studio through five-bedroom homes priced from $1,462/month to $2,671/month. Additionally, households earning 165% of the area median income ($90,450-$268,620) have until October 11, 2018 to apply for studios for $3,105/month, as well as three- through five-bedroom homes ranging from $4,475/month to $5,508/month. Reportedly, the waiting list at Stuy Town exceeds 15,000 applicants (h/t 6sqft). The 1947-finished development features renovated apartments (8,757 total) in 89 residential buildings located on 80 acres of landscaped grounds. The complex hosts an ice rink in the winter, a greenmarket in the summer, and playgrounds, sports courts, and a cafe all year round. Indoor amenities include a fitness center, laundry room, children's playroom, bike room, and 24-hour security and on-site property manager. The L train (while it's still running) and several bus stops are a short walk away.
