Notable NYC Neighbors

JUNE 19, 2013

A NYC address for Miss USA, a sleek Chelsea rental for Ellen Burstyn, a Madison Square move for Chelsea Clinton and a supermodel’s TriBeCa duplex.

Former Miss Connecticut Erin Brady was recently crowned Miss USA 2013 at the American-as-apple-pie Vegas pageant. In addition to the title and crown, the chance to rack up lots of (free) frequent flier miles and a crack at the Miss Universe title, the 25-year-old will also score an apartment at Trump Tower at 721 Fifth Avenue for a year. It’s more than just luck that nets the new Miss the almost-parkside pad: Developer Donald Trump owns the pageant (The AP).

Oscar- and Tony-winning actress Ellen Burstyn recently checked out a two-bedroom apartment at HL23 at 515 West 23rd Street, on the rental market for $12,000 a month. The 1,870-square-foot fourth-floor apartment in the Chelsea standout building boasts a library, a chef’s kitchen and floor-to-ceiling glass walls (NYPost).

The apartment that belonged to late opera and film star Risë Stevens–the Met’s mezzo soprano, who died this year at 99, is known for her starring role in Carmen–is for sale. The two-bedroom co-op at the Emery Roth-designed 930 Fifth Avenue, with beamed ceilings and direct Central Park views, is on the market for $4.5 million (NYPost).

Kiwi model Kylie Bax recently sold her TriBeCa duplex at 11 Vestry Street. The loft-like 3,100-square-foot condo – a combo of two units – with three bedrooms plus an 800-square-foot office/playroom sold for $2.98 million; Bax bought the apartment for around $2 million in 2008 (CurbedNY).

Marc Mezvinsky – hubby of former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton – recently put his three-bedroom condo at the Grand Madison at 225 Fifth Avenue (pictured) on the market. The couple recently purchased a $10.5 million condo at the nearby Whitman, also on Madison Square Park. Their soon-to-be-former residence, listed for $4.48 million, offers a chef’s kitchen, electronic shades and plenty of storage space (TRD).
