Robert A.M. Stern may be the designer of 20 East End Avenue, but a forthcoming development across the street at 40 East End Avenue is packing plenty of star power of its own. The building's developer is Lightstone Group, which is also spearheading a 66-story tower on the rise at 130 William. 40 East End's designers are Gerner Kronick + Valcarel’s, the architects behindThe Beekman Residences and Deborah Berke Partners who handled the interiors for 432 Park Avenue.

The public face of the buildiing presents a dignified charcoal and gray brick skin that elegantly setsback as it rises. Construction on the 20-story, 29-unit building topped out in February, and the exterior is just about finished. Sales are expected to officially commence later this month.

As a fellow East End Avenue resident, Deborah Berke brought in a modern interpretation of local architecture. According to the development team, there will be duplex, maisonette, and penthouse units coming in two- to five-bedroom layouts. All homes will feature casement windows, white oak herringbone floors, and upscale finishes.

As for the amenities, just off the lobby is a grand staircase within a double-height parlor lounge leads to an amenity level that includes an event room, fitness center, and children's playroom. The building also offers a porte-cochere, on-site parking, and rooftop terrace.

A five-bedroom home at the prestigious 10 Gracie Square, which gained attention earlier this year as the Obamas' rumored future home, is listed for $6.995 million.
40 East End lies within close proximity to some of the city's top private schools. Carl Schurz Park and Asphalt Green are also nearby.
