Had Amazon followed through with its plans to build its HQ2 in Long Island City, the twelve residences at Greystone could have provided enviable abodes for some very lucky employees. But now that Amazon has changed its plans, others with a discerning taste will be calling Greystone their home.

The complex’s aesthetics are a nod to LIC’s industrial past: pre-war exteriors, hardwood floors, brick walls and exposed steel beams. But Greystone’s functionality is as modern as it gets. City living requires city eating, an easy feat to accomplish given Greystone's high-end appliances, vented range and custom cabinetry spacious enough to fit all manner of culinary accoutrements. Then there are the bathrooms, oversized to accommodate a quick morning shower or luxuriating in the spray of warm waters.

Greystone is on a residential block between 5th Street and Vernon Boulevard less than two blocks away from the Long Island City waterfront where you’ll find Gantry Plaza State Park and world-class skyline views. The four-story project is from Rising Developers Group and has 14,781 square feet of residential space. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing is leading sales and listings show one-bedrooms from $930K and a two-bedroom for $1.44M. Units have floor plans ranging from 763 to 1,587 square feet of space with private terraces/balconies between 56 and 146 square feet. The developers are known for Long Island City condo developments including Factory House at 42-60 Crescent Street and Solarium at 5-43 48th Avenue.

As one comes to expect from any luxury housing, Greystone comes with private parking, bike storage, a fitness center, and a rooftop recreation area. But luxury housing isn’t a true luxury if it’s not situated in a thriving neighborhood. That’s where LIC excels. Transportation to the rest of New York may be easily accessible, but LIC has enough to offer that you may not even want to leave. The natural beauty of the waterfront is unrivaled in NYC. And the eateries are plentiful enough to satisfy any pallet. Plus, the popular neighborhood of Greenpoint is just a short walk away.

So while Amazon’s plans might have had New Yorkers up in arms cheering, “Not in my backyard!” Greystone elicits no such response. Instead, the residences fit seamlessly in LIC so that occupants can fit seamlessly into New York. Because nothing makes it easier to survive a hustle and bustle than an HQ of one’s own.
