In the weeks following September 11, 2001, a time when much of the city was closing itself off through increased security measure, Open House New York (OHNY) was established as a counterpoint to provide a deeper look at the people, projects, infrastructure, and systems that define New York City and its future. OHNY offers year-round programming like tours, lectures, screenings, and parties, and the highlight is OHNY Weekend. It started with 84 sites in all five boroughs, and has since expanded to over 300 destinations including residential buildings, manufacturing workshops, infrastructure facilities, and performance spaces.
This year, OHNY Weekend takes place from October 17-19, 2025. While tours of many of the in-demand buildings and projects are sold out, apartment hunters can visit the residential buildings any time by scheduling a tour. Indeed, many nearby listings are located in the buildings themselves.

Earlier this summer, Wagner Park reopened after a two-year overhaul to protect it from rising waters and the effects of climate change. This tour demonstrates how infrastructure and landscape architecture can work as one to keep the beloved park open and resilient.
