Sheindlin, who was reportedly TV’s highest-paid personality, sold the duplex unit for $2.25 million in 2010 and its value appreciated an astounding 31% in less than a decade. Since the pandemic and the following market turbulence, its price has come further down to earth, reducing its price from $2.75M to $2.6M last week, 10% less than what it sold for in 2019.

The residence is a 2,250-square-foot three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home with two terraces. On the 19th floor, you're welcomed by an elegant entrance gallery that leads into a spacious living room featuring a wood-burning fireplace and large windows. The first floor also contains the first terrace and a bright eat-in chef's kitchen with an adjoining home office area. In other Manhattan penthouse-courthouse news, a pretrial ruling by Judge Arthur Engoron last month revealed that former President Donald Trump, Allen Weisselberg, and other defendants had engaged in years of fraudulent practices, inflating the value of Trump's assets and net worth on his financial statements. One particular exaggeration included falsely representing the size of his triplex penthouse at Trump Tower as 30,000 square feet when its actual size is 10,996 square feet.

During the New York Attorney General Letitia James' fraud lawsuit against Trump and the Trump Organization, Allen Weisselberg, the former finance chief of Trump's company, maintained his innocence in his testimony. As a consequence, Judge Arthur Engoron ordered the appointment of a court-appointed receiver to assume control of some Trump companies, raising questions about the future oversight of Trump Tower and other prominent Trump properties. An appeals court later temporarily halted the enforcement of this aspect of Engoron's ruling.

As the public awaits the trial's outcome, below are smattering of recently discounted NYC penthouse listings, where sellers have recently come to terms with the realities of a slower market influenced by higher interest rates. While it continues to be a favorable market for cash buyers, these price adjustments may serve as a counterbalance to the challenges posed by rising rates.
