In New York apartments, there's no question that high ceilings confer a number of advantages. They impart a sense of spaciousness and grandeur, not to mention fill the homes with an abundance of natural light. However, cathedral or double-height ceilings aren't necessarily for everyone. Ceilings that are not in proportion to to the floor space can lead to a cavernous atmosphere as opposed to an airy and welcoming one. Especially high ceilings can make tasks like painting and changing light bulbs difficult. And at a time when energy costs are up, heating and cooling expenses can soar almost as high as the ceilings.

An unusual number of listings with very high ceilings were among the approximately 200 sales listings that experienced price reductions from February 21-27, 2024. Please note that all of the quoted figures reflect cumulative price cuts as opposed to the most recent reductions.
