Located on South End Avenue, Gateway reigns as Battery Park's first residential development. The six-structure complex, built in 1983 and the first to open in Battery Park City, consists of three 34-story towers, two seven-story buildings and one six-story building, offering more than 1,700 no-fee rental apartments.

The development is along the Hudson River waterfront and provides residents with gorgeous views, waterside parks, and more. It was developed by the LeFrak Organization, which developed other regarded residential communities including LeFrak City in Queens.

At Gateway, the waterfront haven has several availabilities and select listings offer one month of free rent; studios start at $2,605/month, one-bedrooms at $3,304/month and two-bedrooms at $4,878/month. For comparison, Citi Habitats reported the neighborhood's median rent in November 2017 was $3,800/month.

Homes at Gateway have up to three bedrooms and many have been fully or partially renovated. Studios have open kitchens and renovated bathrooms, bedrooms are more spacious than most, and two- and three-bedroom units have varying layouts equipped with plenty of closet space, and combine style and practicality.

Most layouts are considered oversized, and are outfitted with hardwood flooring, overhead lighting, and beautiful finishes. The open kitchens include Quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances. Large windows offer gorgeous views of New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, and the Jersey City skyline.

The complex offers The Club at Gateway, an 8,000-square-foot state-of-the-art fitness center equipped with two cardio rooms, a weight room and locker rooms. The area also features a lounge with an HDTV, a billiards table, and a party room with a kitchen. The children’s playroom is complete with a chalkboard wall, toys, and books galore. To top it off, the development features multiple doormen, on-site parking, two-story-high lobbies, and a gated entrance.
