Completed in 1983 by The LeFrak Organization, Fisher Brothers, and the Olnick Organization, and designed by Jack Brown, this gated-entry development includes landscaped plazas and some retail and commercial spaces. The towers, fronting Battery Park City's promenade along the Hudson River, offer amenities such as a 24-hour doorman service, live-in super, on-site parking, two-story-high lobbies, fitness centers with swimming pools, and stunning views of the New York City Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, and the Jersey City skyline.
Addressed at 335, 345, 355, 365, 375, and 385 South End Avenue, Gateway Plaza was initially criticized for its architectural design. However, the development became a vital part of the area's transformation into a vibrant residential neighborhood. The complex's proximity to the waterfront and Brookfield Place, its amenities, and views add to the complex's appeal.
