The warehouse formerly at 22-44 Jackson Avenue has given way to a twin-towered rental development dubbed 5Pointz, but its history as a street art mecca has not been forgotten. Street artists spent years using the building as a canvas and turning it into a graffiti art destination, but developer G&M Realty whitewashed the building without warning before demolishing it. A group of graffiti artists sued under a provision known as VARA (Visual Artists Rights Act); in 2018, Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Frederic Block ruled that the developer violated the artists’ rights and ordered them to pay the artists the maximum of $150K per destroyed artwork for a total of $6.75 million. G&M Realty tried to take their case to the Supreme Court, but their request was declined last fall.
Earlier this year, leasing launched on the complex's over 1,100 apartments which are complemented by amenity spaces that nod to the site's artistic past. Current availabilities start at $3,195/month for studios, $3,089/month for one-bedrooms, and $4,578/month for two-bedrooms. Prices reflect an early occupancy incentive of 1.5 months free on a 12-month lease or 3 months free on a 24-month lease. Additionally, the leasing team, headed by MNS Real Estate, is offering 12 months of free access to the amenities. According to CityRealty listings, the prices are roughly in line with the neighborhood’s median rent, which ranges from a median of $2,995/month for studios, $3,447/month for one-bedrooms, and $5,295/month for two-beds.

In all apartments, “your living room is your canvas to fill” with elegant finishes, hardwood floors, and oversized windows looking out on spectacular sunset and skyline views. Kitchens come outfitted with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Baths have rain-head showers, soaking tubs, and soothing finishes.
Early marketing materials promised “graffiti-inspired art” throughout the building, but recently released renderings do not show any trace of that. What they do show, however, is an impressive, 90,000-square-foot amenities package that includes a courtyard with a shuffleboard court, an indoor pool with lounge chairs, a co-working lounge, a video arcade, an indoor basketball court, and an indoor/outdoor Sky Lounge with BBQ grills and panoramic views. A nearly 8,000-square-foot fitness center offers cardio and strength equipment, spin rooms, group fitness rooms for yoga and dance, a boxing gym, and a sauna; a game lounge comes with big-screen TVs, video game systems, and a pool table. Additional conveniences and services include an attended lobby, a pet-washing station, and on-site parking.

5Pointz is well situated in the heart of Long Island City near the Court Square E, M, G, and 7 trains, allowing for a quick trip to Manhattan and Brooklyn. Closer to home, the building is one block from MoMA PS1. Popular restaurants, Gantry Plaza State Park, and Hunters Point South Park are a short walk away.

It is also the latest in a long line of amenity-rich rentals that have populated Long Island City in recent years. The ODA-designed 22-22 Jackson Avenue is across the street from 5Pointz, and Hayden, Linc LIC, Townhouse on the Park, The Cove, and The Pearson Court Square are a short walk away.
