American Copper Buildings Begin to Welcome First Residents

The American Copper Buildings in Murray Hill is an instantly-recognizable structure - two soaring towers clad in 4.25 million pounds of raw copper engaged in a motionless dance - and now, it's open for business. The leasing team has announced the towers are welcoming the first residents along with the news of the grand opening of an on-site leasing office and gallery. Located at 626 First Avenue on Manhattan’s East River waterfront, the pair rises to 41 and 48 floors and offers a combined 761 residences with over 300 unique layouts.

While rental concessions have been on the rise, don't expect them here. Current pricing starts at $3,200 per month for studios, $4,500 for one-bedroom residences and $6,650 per month for two-bedrooms - and listings have no mention of any special offers. Though not yet available, there are apartments with up to three bedrooms including a limited collection of penthouse units with open-air loggias. The project is from JDS Development and SHoP Architects and leasing first launched earlier this year. Architecture critic Carter Horsley has published a review of the building, highlighting its impressive amenity package which includes a pool within the 3-story skybridge suspended 300 feet in air.
