A new residential rental building is preparing to open at 607 West 161st Street in Washington Heights. Developed by Sutton Management, the building called the Hannah hosts 62 brand-new apartments across 10 floors. Designed by Jeffrey Cole Architects, the mid-rise features a grey brick façade with its upper stories clad in light-colored stucco. The building replaces a stately brick and stone church, and will provide 13 units of affordable housing via the city's 421a program.
The newly constructed, no fee residences at the Hannah range from studios to two-bedroom layouts, with some offering outdoor space. Each home as A/C, washer/dryers, oak floors, and is finished with high quality materials and appliances. Kitchens have granite countertops, Whirlpool ovens, and microwaves. Baths include imported Italian porcelain tile and polished chrome fixtures.
Amenities at the Hannah include a rear patio, a fitness center, bike storage, a garden, and a lovely rooftop terrace. The building has a virtual doorman, and two stylish elevators for optimal convenience.
An affordable housing lottery launched yesterday for 13 of the Hannah’s 62 units. The lottery is reserved for those families earning 60% or less than the area median income. Through this program, studios are starting for $868/month and two-bedrooms for $1,085/month. Potential residents can apply until August 15. For an additional fee, they will be granted access to the building’s amenities, including the fitness center and bike room.
The Hannah is situated on a lovely tree-lined block located off Broadway in Washington Heights. The building is convenient to the 1 subway line and offers easy access to New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center, Yankee Stadium, the West Side Highway, and the George Washington Bridge . The building also stands in close proximity to subway stops at 168th Street, including the A, the C, and the 1. Nearby parks include Riverside Park and Highbridge Park.
